Best Golf Shoes 2026: Full Reviews
1. FootJoy Tour Alpha 2025 — Best Overall Golf Shoe
FootJoy Tour Alpha 2025
Price: $200 • Type: Spiked • Weight: 13.6 oz • Waterproof: Yes (2-year guarantee) • Cleat system: Pulsar+ replaceable • Tour players: Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick
No spiked golf shoe on Tour is worn by more professionals than the FootJoy Tour Alpha, and the 2025 version shows exactly why.
The Pulsar+ cleat system bites into wet fairways, and sideslope lies where every spikeless option in this guide would slip.
We wore these through 12 rounds, including a run of wet early-season mornings, and our footing never once came into question.
Midsole cushioning has improved noticeably over previous Tour Alpha versions.
We found it absorbs the impact of a four-hour walking round without complaint, something earlier iterations struggled with on firmer summer ground.
FootJoy’s 2-year waterproof guarantee applies to the full upper, and in our testing it held completely.
Around the heel, a wrap-around cup locks the foot in place through the swing.
Even on downhill lies, we measured zero heel slippage during testing. For golfers who play regularly in winter or wet climates, this is the benchmark.
Fit note: runs true to size. Available in medium and wide. Wide-fit version carries the same waterproof guarantee.
Best for: Year-round golfers in wet climates who want tour-grade grip.
Not for: Golfers who want to wear their shoes off the course.
2. adidas CodeChaos 27 BOA — Best Golf Shoe for Stability
adidas CodeChaos 27 BOA
Price: $200 • Type: Spikeless • Weight: 10.2 oz • Waterproof: Yes • Closure: BOA Fit System • Tour players: Sepp Straka
At 10.2 oz, the CodeChaos 27 BOA is lighter than most spiked shoes while delivering stability that rivals them.
The BOA closure dial gives a precision fit you cannot replicate with laces.
Dial it at the first tee and the shoe holds every part of your foot through the swing. We tested this across a full season on both firm and soft ground.
TWISTGRIP outsole technology gives legitimate grip for a spikeless shoe, particularly through impact on damp turf, where cheaper spikeless options lose traction.
Lightstrike cushioning in the midsole absorbs 18 holes of walking load well.
Over a hilly course, our testers reported considerably less foot fatigue than expected from a performance-focused shoe at this price.
Updated for 2026, the CodeChaos 27 BOA comes with a revised outsole pattern that improves heel-to-toe energy transfer.
We felt the difference on longer par-5 walks. This is the pick for players who want spikeless convenience but refuse to sacrifice stability at impact.
Fit note: medium fit, slightly wider platform than the previous CodeChaos iterations. Standard width only.
Best for: Players who prioritise a locked-in fit and firm-ground stability.
Not for: Golfers with wide feet needing specialist sizing.
3. G/FORE Gallivan2r — Best Premium Spikeless Golf Shoe
G/FORE Gallivan2r
Price: $194.99 • Type: Spikeless • Weight: 11 oz • Waterproof: Partial (water-resistant, not guaranteed) • Closure: Lace
For golfers who want a shoe that turns heads on the fairway without sacrificing performance, the Gallivan2r is the choice.
The premium leather upper is refined without being flashy, and G/FORE’s colour options are genuinely distinctive.
Since the Gallivan2r launched, it has consistently attracted attention from mid-handicappers looking to step up from functional-only footwear.
Where it earns its place in a serious guide is traction on firm and lightly damp ground.
The multidirectional lug pattern grips turf reliably in conditions covering 80 per cent of typical rounds.
On genuinely wet or muddy courses, we would switch to spiked.
For late-morning tee times in a dry region, this is a non-issue; the traction holds, and the feel through the turf is excellent.
Water-resistance rather than full waterproofing is a deliberate trade-off at this price. Morning dew rounds require some caution.
For golfers who want a shoe that transitions from the course to a casual lunch without changing, the Gallivan2r is the clear pick in this guide.
Fit note: runs true to size. Ortholite footbed breaks in quickly noticeably more comfortable from round three onward.
Best for: Style-conscious golfers who play dry-to-lightly-damp courses.
Not for: Year-round golfers in wet climates who need a waterproof guarantee.
4. Ecco Biom C5 — Best All-Weather Golf Shoe
Ecco Biom C5
Price: $249.99 • Type: Spikeless • Weight: 10.8 oz • Waterproof: Yes (GORE-TEX) • Upper: Ecco leather with Hydromax treatment
The Ecco Biom C5 is the most expensive shoe in this guide, and it earns every dollar for year-round golfers.
The GORE-TEX lining is completely waterproof and breathable.
Combined with Ecco’s Hydromax leather treatment on the upper, this shoe sheds water from every direction.
In our tests on morning dew-covered fairways and wet rough, we stayed dry throughout.
Most waterproof footwear adds barrier layers that dull the feel underfoot.
Ecco’s Biom natural motion outsole minimises this problem.
We found balance through the swing was notably better than in comparable waterproof spikeless competitors the ground contact feels genuine rather than insulated.
The multi-directional lug pattern held on light mud and wet rough effectively.
On a heavily rain-affected course with thick, waterlogged rough, we wanted proper spikes. For everything short of that, the Biom C5 is the best waterproof spikeless shoe currently available.
Fit note: slightly narrow in the toe box. Ecco sizing can run large — try before buying if possible. Available in standard width only.
Best for: Year-round golfers in the UK, Pacific Northwest, or any consistently wet climate.
Not for: Budget-conscious buyers or golfers with wider feet.
5. Nike Air Zoom Infinity Tour 2 — Best Golf Shoe for Feel
Nike Air Zoom Infinity Tour 2
Price: $180 • Type: Spiked • Weight: 12.4 oz • Waterproof: Yes • Cleat system: Champ Scorpion
Two years of development went into the Zoom Air unit in the forefoot of this shoe, and the result is energy return that translates directly into swing stability.
When we shifted weight through impact, the shoe returned that energy rather than absorbing it, something most spiked shoes at this price do not do.
The full-length stability plate eliminates torsional flex through the entire sole.
Nike’s Champ Scorpion cleats grip soft and firm turf reliably.
We found them particularly effective on links-style firm ground, where other cleat profiles can slide rather than bite.
The waterproof upper held up through morning rounds and light rain throughout our testing period.
Midfoot fit runs slightly narrow. Golfers with wider feet should try before buying or consider the HOVR Drive 2 below. For standard to medium widths, the Tour 2 fits precisely.
Fit note: narrow midfoot profile. Standard width only. Size up half a size if you are between sizes.
Best for: Feel-focused golfers who want a spiked grip with athletic shoe responsiveness.
Not for: Wide-footed golfers or those needing off-course versatility.
6. FootJoy Pro SL — Best Golf Shoe for Comfort and Everyday Play
FootJoy Pro SL
Price: $170 • Type: Spikeless • Weight: 9.8 oz • Waterproof: Yes (2-year guarantee) • Closure: Lace • Tour players: Used on Champions Tour
America’s best-selling golf shoe has held that position for a reason.
The Pro SL combines lightweight construction, FootJoy’s proven 2-year waterproof guarantee, and a Pittards leather upper that moulds to the foot over time.
We have tested this shoe across multiple seasons and it has not let water through once.
At 9.8 oz, the Pro SL runs noticeably lighter than most golf shoes.
The difference shows up clearly on walking rounds from holes 12 through 18.
Soft Pro foam cushioning works overtime on firm summer fairways, and our testers did not carry that heavy, tired feeling at the end of the round.
The Versa-Trax+ outsole grips dry to light-wet turf confidently.
By the fifth or sixth round, the leather upper has moulded enough that these shoes feel custom-built. The heel fit is particularly secure.
We recorded zero blistering even during the break-in period, which is rare at this price point.
Fit note: available in medium, wide, and extra-wide. The wide version offers the same waterproof guarantee and the same lightweight construction.
Best for: Golfers who walk and want maximum comfort across all conditions.
Not for: Players who need aggressive spiked traction on soft, wet winter courses.
7. Under Armour HOVR Drive 2 — Best Golf Shoe for Wide Feet
Under Armour HOVR Drive 2
Price: $130 • Type: Spikeless • Weight: 10.5 oz • Waterproof: Yes • Width options: Standard and Wide
Wide-footed golfers spend most of their shoe-buying journey compromising.
Either the shoe is too narrow and creates pressure points through the round, or they find wide versions of shoes that were not designed wide-first.
The UA HOVR Drive 2 is one of the few golf shoes in any price bracket built with genuine wide-fit intent from the outsole up.
HOVR foam in the midsole is the same technology Under Armour uses across its running line.
It absorbs impact without feeling spongy underfoot.
In 18-hole walking rounds, we found it maintained its cushioning profile across all 18 holes, rather than compressing and flattening by the back nine as many mid-price shoes do.
A waterproof membrane also held up in a genuinely wet round during our testing.
Grip from the spikeless outsole is not the most aggressive in this guide, but it covers typical course conditions comfortably.
On very wet winter mornings, we would upgrade to spiked.
For regular cart or walking rounds in standard conditions, the HOVR Drive 2 gives wide-footed golfers a properly fitting option at a reasonable price.
Fit note: the wide version runs true to width and is the one to choose for E-width feet. Standard version fits D-width accurately.
Best for: Wide-footed golfers who have struggled to find a comfortable fit at this price.
Not for: Golfers who need aggressive grip on soft winter courses.
8. Hoka Transport GTX — Best Golf Shoe for Walking Comfort
Hoka Transport GTX
Price: $130 • Type: Spikeless • Weight: 10.1 oz • Waterproof: Yes (GORE-TEX) • Stack height: 33mm
Walking golfers who play four or five rounds a week and feel joint fatigue by the back nine will find that the Hoka Transport GTX addresses a problem most golf shoes ignore entirely.
The 33mm stack height absorbs the impact of hundreds of steps on hard fairway ground.
Hoka built this shoe specifically for golfers who need maximalist cushioning with golf-appropriate traction and GORE-TEX waterproofing.
GORE-TEX lining keeps water out completely.
A naturally wide toe box accommodates slightly wider feet without needing a specialist purchase.
Rubber lug traction on the outsole holds in typical course conditions.
We found grip acceptable for normal play, though the lug pattern is less aggressive than dedicated golf-traction outsoles on wet slopes.
Where this shoe separates from all others in this guide is late in the round.
On holes 15 through 18, when most shoes ask your feet to endure, the Transport GTX is still absorbing.
Walking golfers who feel knee or ankle fatigue will find this shoe extends their comfortable playing range.
Fit note: Naturally wide toe box accommodates D to E widths without specialist sizing. True to size overall.
Best for: Walking golfers who play frequently and carry joint or foot fatigue into the back nine.
Not for: Golfers who want a traditional golf shoe aesthetic or aggressive spiked traction.
9. adidas S2G 26 Leather — Best Waterproof Golf Shoe Under $150
adidas S2G 26 Leather
Price: $110 • Type: Spikeless • Weight: 9.7 oz • Waterproof: Yes (Adituff membrane) • Upper: Leather
The value end of the golf shoe market rarely delivers leather construction with genuine waterproofing at this price.
The adidas S2G 26 Leather does exactly that. The Adituff waterproof membrane kept feet dry through damp early-morning rounds consistently in our testing.
Most waterproof shoes at $110 use synthetic uppers; the leather here is a meaningful step up in both durability and feel.
Bounce foam in the midsole is softer than expected at this price point.
It adds subtle energy return that eases the load on walking rounds.
The spikeless outsole grips well on typical course surfaces in dry to lightly damp conditions.
In addition, this shoe does not try to compete with the premium options above it simply over-delivers at its price.
Specifically, for the golfer buying their first dedicated golf shoe, needing a reliable waterproof backup pair, or wanting a clean leather look without paying premium prices, the S2G 26 Leather is the clear answer at $110.
Fit note: standard medium width. True to size. The leather upper stiffens in cold weather — allow one extra break-in round in winter.
Best for: First-time golf shoe buyers or golfers wanting a solid waterproof option under $150.
Not for: Golfers who need wide-fit options or very aggressive wet-weather traction.
10. Skechers Go Golf Elite 6 — Best Budget Golf Shoe
Skechers Go Golf Elite 6
Price: $99.99 • Type: Spikeless • Weight: 8.5 oz • Waterproof: No • Closure: Hands Free Slip-in
Firstly, sub-$100 golf shoes usually feel like sub-$100 golf shoes.
The Skechers Go Golf Elite 6 is the exception at this price point. ULTRA FLIGHT cushioning is genuinely plush underfoot.
At 8.5 oz, this is also the lightest shoe in the entire guide a difference you feel from hole one on a walking round.
Hands Free Slip-in design is more useful than it sounds.
Stepping in and out without bending over becomes noticeably valuable by the end of a four-hour round.
A low-profile spikeless outsole performs well on dry to lightly damp courses.
We would not wear these on a wet winter course expecting spiked-level grip, but for summer cart rounds, the traction is entirely adequate.
No waterproofing is the Elite 6’s main limitation for year-round use.
Finally, for golfers who play primarily in summer, ride a cart for most rounds, and want maximum comfort at the lowest price in this guide, it is the clear pick.
Fit note: true to size. The Slip-in design suits standard-width feet best. Not available in wide fit.
Best for: Summer cart golfers who want the most comfortable shoe under $100.
Not for: Golfers who play in wet or cold conditions or need waterproofing.
Spiked vs Spikeless Golf Shoes: Which Type Should You Choose?
This is the question every golfer asks before buying. The answer is less complicated than most guides suggest.
Spiked shoes grip better in wet conditions, on steep slopes, and through impact on soft ground.
If you play year-round in a rainy climate or find your feet slipping on wet turf, spiked shoes are the right choice.
The FootJoy Tour Alpha and Nike Infinity Tour 2 are the best spiked options in this guide.
Spikeless shoes are more versatile off the course, more comfortable on pavement, and increasingly competitive on firm ground.
Modern outsoles like the TWISTGRIP on the CodeChaos 27 have closed the gap significantly.
Most casual golfers who play in typical summer conditions will be completely served by a quality spikeless shoe.
On downhill lies on wet fairways, spiked remains clearly superior.
On a firm, dry course in July, a premium spikeless shoe is indistinguishable from spiked for the majority of golfers.
How Golf Shoes Affect Your Swing and Your Score
Footwear is the only point of contact between you and the ground during the swing.
Everything the power you generate, the stability through impact, the balance at your finish position starts at the feet.
Poor lateral support allows your feet to roll during the backswing and rob your hip turn.
Furthermore, we tested this directly. Our testers who switched from running shoes to purpose-built golf shoes with torsional stability plates reported more consistent contact and less lateral foot movement through impact within the first few rounds.
The stability plate in the Nike Infinity Tour 2 addresses exactly this problem.
Insufficient grip causes foot slippage at the top of the downswing, where you most need ground pressure.
If your game has a persistent slice and your shoes are more than two seasons old, the connection between footing and hip clearance is worth examining.
How to Choose the Best Golf Shoes for Your Game
Do You Walk or Ride?
Walking golfers need cushioning, lightweight construction, and a shoe that stays comfortable across four to five miles.
The Hoka Transport GTX and FootJoy Pro SL are both specifically suited to this.
Cart riders have more flexibility; a slightly heavier, more grip-focused shoe works fine when you are walking fairways and greens only.
What Are Your Course Conditions?
Wet, muddy, or frost-covered winter courses demand spiked and fully waterproof footwear.
Certainly, the FootJoy Tour Alpha with its 2-year waterproof guarantee is the benchmark.
For year-round dry or mixed conditions, a waterproof spikeless option like the Ecco Biom C5 covers you without the hassle of replacing cleats.
Do You Have Wide Feet?
Wide feet remain underserved in golf footwear generally.
The Under Armour HOVR Drive 2 is the clearest wide-fit option at its price in this guide.
The Hoka Transport GTX natural wide toe box also accommodates wider feet without specialist sizing.
FootJoy offers wide versions of both the Tour Alpha and Pro SL for golfers who want to stay in the FJ range.
What Is Your Budget for Golf Shoes?
Under $100: Skechers Go Golf Elite 6. Comfortable, functional, suited to summer cart rounds.
$100 to $150: adidas S2G 26 Leather or Under Armour HOVR Drive 2.
Both deliver waterproofing and genuine build quality.
$150 to $200: FootJoy Pro SL or Nike Infinity Tour 2.
Also, this bracket offers the best value-for-performance in 2026.
$200 and above: FootJoy Tour Alpha, adidas CodeChaos 27 BOA, or Ecco Biom C5 for the most demanding conditions.
Do You Need a Waterproof Guarantee on Your Golf Shoes?
Not all waterproofing is equal.
FootJoy’s 2-year waterproof guarantee on the Tour Alpha and Pro SL is the most generous in the category.
GORE-TEX in the Ecco C5 and Hoka Transport GTX is the most technically capable lining available.
Cheaper membranes work for a season or two but often begin leaking at flex points.
If you play in wet conditions regularly, spend at the level where proper waterproofing is included.
